The Department of Languages and Linguistics at The University of Texas at El Paso is recruiting an Assistant/Associate Professor of Peninsular Spanish Literature and Culture with a specialization in the contemporary period. Other areas of expertise may include but are not limited to visual cultures, performance studies, and transatlantic studies. We seek applicants who have a commitment to research and teaching, and who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community. The appointment date is September 1st, 2019.
The professional responsibilities of this position are: teaching all levels of Spanish, but primarily upper-division and graduate-level courses in Spanish Peninsular literature and culture; research, scholarship, and service to the University and the community.
An ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Peninsular Spanish Literature with a tangible record of ongoing scholarly and pedagogical engagement. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is also required.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience in leading study abroad programs, online teaching, and/or translation.
Salary competitive and commensurate with experience.
