Earlham runs two study-abroad programs in Japan: a full year or spring semester taking classes at Waseda University in Tokyo, and a fall semester Studies in Cross-Cultural Education (SICE) program in Morioka where you will help teach English at a local school.
Our students engage in student-faculty research during month-long experiences on subjects like Japanese food culture and the understanding of the hopes of the Ainu, aboriginal people of northern Japan.
Because of relationships cultivated through a thoughtful and practical interface with Japanese culture and society, our graduates are well prepared for employment in English-teaching programs in Japan.
